The Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association recognizes the importance of being a partner with our local community - serving those who are less fortunate or those with special needs. In both cases, the Bar Association desires to be part of the "solution." To that end, the Bar Membership is going to be involved with the following events for the 2017 calendar year:

Jan.- May, Aug. - Nov. (last Thursday of each month) - Santa Clarita Teen Court.

In operation for over 20 years, Teen Court is a diversion-based program for local youths (junior high thru high school) who have committed low level criminal offenses. The program is designed to allow the offending minor a "second chance" via a probation period involving community service, and other relevant obligations. If the minor successfully completes the program, his/her case is dismissed! The minors in the program are screened by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Department. Bar members who participate are encouraged to engage the members of the minor's "jury" in a meaningful discussion in deciding the appropriate penalties for each case heard by the Teen Court. Each session runs approximately two hours (3:15pm – 5:15pm) and is held on the last Thursday of each month. We encourage all Bar members to volunteer their time for a worthy cause.

April 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Blood Drive.

Co-hosted with the Santa Clarita Valley Business Group and the local American Red Cross, the Bar membership will donate blood that will provide greatly needed resources for Henry Mayo Hospital. Henry Mayo relies on the Red Cross to provide it with over 4,000 units of blood each year which is primarily used for the hospital's Emergency and Trauma Center. The blood drive will take place at TPC, 26550 Heritage View Lane, Valencia, CA.

April 18th at 6:00 p.m. - 6th Annual High School Speech Competition.

At this 6th Annual bar sponsored event, local high school students will present a speech. A panel of five Judges from the Los Angeles Superior Court will score the competition. The top three students will receive cash scholarships. If you would like to place an ad in the event program please contact Sarah at 661-505-8670 or Please check the website and/or Facebook page for updated information.

November - Toy Drive.

At this time of the year, many local charitable groups have difficulty providing toys and new clothing items to the young boys and girls of the Santa Clarita Valley. To help offset the shortages the groups often face, the Bar membership will host a toy/clothing drive at its annual Installation Dinner and distribute these items to the various local charities. If you would like to donate but will not be able to attend the Installation Dinner, contact Sarah at (661) 505-8670 or to coordinate a drop-off.

For any questions or comments related to the Bar Associations Community Outreach Program, please feel free to contact Committee Chair and Board Member, Jeff Armendariz, 661.312.5380 or by email: Thank you for your interest and support!
